Yes – as of April 1, 2026, Medicare launched a pilot program that allows eligible seniors to receive up to $500 per year in CBD products through their doctor at no cost to the patient.
The program is called the Substance Access Beneficiary Engagement Incentive (BEI) and operates through select Medicare-affiliated healthcare organizations called ACOs (Accountable Care Organizations). It is not standard Medicare drug coverage and does not work through a pharmacy – your doctor's organization must opt in. Products must be hemp-derived, lab-tested, and contain less than 0.3% delta-9 THC. Not every Medicare patient qualifies automatically; eligibility depends on whether your doctor's organization has enrolled. If you are a Medicare senior in Central Florida or Central Illinois, ask your primary care physician whether their practice participates in an ACO REACH model – that is the most common qualifying program.
